I ordered 4 of the miracle gro bags of soil thinking I was getting the huge bags based on the savings that were published online. When I got there to pick them up it was 4 little bags of soil. I was told I was saving a huge amount of $ and it turns out I was saving zero.
If you look at the original price it is the price for a huge bag.

I bought a 50L bag of miracle last fall, and used it on my outdoor bedding plants. About two months ago I used some of the soil to transplant a few indoor plants into larger pots, and was extremely disappointed! I kept getting random seedlings coming up in my transplanted pots, and also for the first time found fungus gnats arising from my plants. I threw the remainder of the bag in the garbage, and will not be purchasing Miracle Gro soil this coming gardening season.

I’ve been using Miracle-Gro potting soil for several years without any significant problems. Not this year.
The first bag I got was not just clearly of poor quality — lots of undecomposed woody material — but it had a strongly hydrophobic component: when top-watering, dusty, peaty stuff floated to the top and the bottom portion drained very poorly.I thought maybe I had gotten a bad bag, or that it had dried out (despite feeling moist to touch.) Got another from a different distributor to make sure, but it was the same.
I’m guessing that they changed their formulation to include more low-cost cellulosic stuff, but whatever the story, I’m done. No more Miracle-Gro for me!

bag was ripped open in the middle. This may be due to picking it wrong or damaged when picking up and placing it in the car. To remedy a situation, a credit must be given for the damaged product.

I bought a new bag of Miracle-Gro Potting mix 6 weeks ago to pot/start my canna lily bulbs. Within days of potting my house is over-run with fungus gnats! I have used this product many times and was very disappointed with this bag. Have been fighting the problem for 6 weeks and don’t seem to be winning the battle. The cannas will eventually be transplanted outside however the gnats have also now invaded my house plants.

I was concerned as soon as I opened one of the 6 bags I had purchased, this was about a month ago. As soon as I opened it, I could smell a very strong musty/mold/mildew stench, not that of a premium soil mix.
I proceeded against my better judgment and what I ended up with was oodles of gnat infested and moldy plantings.
Please read and research before spending precious time and money on a sub-par product.
Not sure what I am going to do with all of this contaminated soil…

I bought 4 x 25l bags of this and the quality is complete garbage, more sticks and chunks of wood, pieces of cardboard and what appears to be tar paper. Won’t ever buy this again.

This potting mix has changed dramatically !!! It’s more like a glorified garden soil . Where is the perlite? Vermiculite ? This 2 cu ft. Bag used to fill many more pots in the past. What happened? Very unhappy!☹️

Purchased 100 litres of this soil and it was full of twigs and absorbed moisture strangely. Not much soil in the mix at all. Very disappointed and will be going back to a different brand.

I used this Miracle Grow soil a few months ago and began having a gnat infestation in my house soon after. All of my plants, 20 plants, that I topped off with the soil, are infested with gnat eggs and gnats. All over. Flying in my face at night while I’m using my phone. This has been going on for months. I’ve been buying vinegar and soap over and over, which can be seen in my Walmart order history. It’s one way to attract and kill them. I also spray a peroxide solution on the leaves and soil. And I still have them. It’s gotten better since I sifted through all the plants one day and removed any eggs I found. It took forever. And I have to replace the vinegar/soap solution every two days. If I’m able to I will upload pics of just one day of the bowls with solution being out and the amount of dead gnats. And this is way better than before. Recently a family member mentioned checking the bag of soil and yep! Filled with gnat eggs and tiny bugs. I immediately got it out of my house. It’s probably an isolated incident but it’s costing me money and my time. I shop at this Walmart a couple times a week and spend quite a bit of money there. I will continue to shop there but this really sucks.
